Calathea Care
Light
Medium to low indirect light. Direct sun will cause sunburn.
Water
Keep your calathea moist but not saturated or soggy. Extended dryness will lead to brown leaf tips. Curling and drooping leaves are signs of underwatering. Water with filtered water.
Humidity
Calatheas love humidity and to be a little warm (60-80 degrees). Keep them near a humidifier if possible, they also love being in a bathroom or kitchen. Keep them away from heaters, air conditioners, or other drafts.
Pests & Problems
Calatheas are sensitive to the salts, minerals, fluoride, and chlorine in tap water. Water them with filtered water or tap water that has been allowed to sit out overnight. Browning leaf tips & edges are signs of this sensitivity. Calatheas can be prone to mealy bugs, white fuzzy patches are indicators of this. Remove with an alcohol soaked q-tip.
Pet friendly?
Yup, calatheas are non-toxic to pets.
