Dracaena are lovely, easy-care plants that can thrive indoors and are ideal for beginners.
Light: Dracaena prefer medium indirect light but can tolerate low light. Brown spots on the leaves mean it’s time to lower the light exposure. New leaves that are smaller than previous leaves or very pale indicate the plant needs more light.
Water: Be careful not to overwater which would cause root rot and an early death for your Dracaena. Leaves that turn yellow and fall off indicate too much water. Allow the soil to dry out thoroughly between watering. The lower the light, the less you’ll need to water. Water less in the winter season.
Humidity: Average household humidity is fine for your Dracaena. Your Dracaena will enjoy a misting every now and then. Dracaena do not like to be cold, they prefer temps between 65-80 degrees.
Pests & Problems: Dracaena are easy care plants. One common issue might be browning at the tips of the leaves. This can be caused by overwatering or using tap water. Allow tap water to sit overnight to remove chlorine and fluoride, or water with filtered water.
Dracaena plants are toxic to pets and people. If eaten, they can cause mouth and stomach irritation, and possible vomiting.
